At the beginning of the lesson, I tightened up circle group which allowed a more intimate setting. When I started reading the (Tom and the Table) story, I involved the students into it by asking them different questions and to help them make the letter T. Moreover, the questions that I asked while reading the story kept them attentive.
When I showed them the flash cards that had pictures of objects start with letter (T t), they knew most of the words. For instance, table, telephone, tiger, tire, tree, tooth and turtle. However, there are new words that they learned in this lesson, such as, train and truck.
After that I asked them if they can remember a song that start with the letter and the sound (T t). I was surprised when I got the correct answer from a child that I have difficulty in getting his attention. He started singing (Twinkle, Twinkle little star) Song.
In the focus activity, I provided some materials for the children to make an art activity which I linked it to the literacy. I asked them to design their turtle by gluing small pieces of colorful paper on it. After that I asked them to do what they prefer (Color of write as the story instruction) the letter (T t). In this activity, the children were so active and creative in designing the turtle and they asked me to have more time to decorate it.

Liked the ryhme and your strategy in deviding the lessons during the week (numeracy and literacy).
ReplyDeleteYou can also use some ideas from last T.P to conduct your lessons and just fix the small things which were wrong last semester so you can achive your goals.
Good luck dear :)
