In this lesson, I let the children play a ‘searching for the number 7’ game. This game is about providing number 7 cards and place them around the classroom. I chose 2 children to search for the number but all of the children integrated with them. I placed 7 cards and these 2 children found only 6 cards. Here I asked all the children to find the last card. They were so excited with the game and helpful with each other. I played another game with them which is fish patterns where I encouraged them to recognize the line of fish if they are pattern or not and them let them make a pattern.
With the focus group, I helped them to create a photo frame where they have to glue their pictures on the frame and also glue colored shapes patterns on it. They were creative in doing the patterns because some of them chose 2 colors and some of them chose 3 colors.
The second focus group were gluing glitters on number 7 printable shape. This group also was creative because some of them put one color that they liked and some of them put the same colors of the UAE flag colors and in different ways.

Glade and Im happy that you have tried one of my ideas before I did (patterns with picture frame), really. Can you tell me please what problems you have faced during this activity? I mean what would you change to make it more suitable with children in KG years?
ReplyDeleteThe lesson sounds active and enjoyable.. Wish you the best and good luck
The problem that I faced in this activity is that the children took long time to do it (More than 25 minutes). I think that next time I will provide bigger pattern shapes for them, so it can be easy and fast for them to create a pattern.
DeleteWoooow Reem I liked the idea of teaching patterns with their picture and make it as a frame I think your students got the idea and they had fun in the same time. As Asma said can you tell us what problems you faced because I may use the same activity next semester if I have to teach them patterns.
