The aim is to give more positive comments to the children.
Rationale
During my teaching practice, I used to get the children’s who act and behave in bad way by naming them or punishing them and this happened in both circle time and focus group time. Instead I should emphasize the positive which is a technique used to modify children's behavior by reinforcing desired behaviors. It also could improve the children’s self-esteem instead of using punishment which could hurt their self-esteem and emotional growth.
Strategies
•Praise good behavior by using names.
•Noticing
something the child has done well and patting him/her on the back and praising
him/her in front of the class.
•Say
positive things about the children who have positive behavior, so the other
children who have negative behavior can notice that and act as the same
attitude as the other children.

Mentor Observation
Self evaluation
Week 1:
o I
praised the good behavior children by using their names. Such as, very good
(name), good job (name), well done (name) … . This encouraged them to act in a
good behavior and let the other children to imitate them. This is a type of
social reinforcement which is most
effective when the action being praised is clearly communicated.
o I
said positive things about the children who have positive behavior. I like the
way (name) is sitting, I can see (name) is a good listener, (name) is a good
boy/girl because he/she cleaned up the classroom … . This made the other
children who had negative behavior noticed that and act as the same attitude as
the other children.
Week 2:
o The same as
last week.
o I
provided a behavior chart which I glues on it the children’s pictures at the
bottom of the chart and yellow stars at the top of the chart. The children who
acted in a good behavior got star stickers at the top of their pictures and
whoever reached to the big yellow star got a gift and a certificate.
Week 3:
o I
used the behavior chart to get the children who reached to
the big star and gave them gifts and certificates.
o I praised the children who followed
the rules of playing games and dealing with their friends correctly. This had
been noticed from the other children who were broking the games and fighting
with their friends.
o I
praised the good behavior children by using their names. Such as, very good
(name), good job (name), well done (name) … . This encouraged them to act in a
good behavior and let the other children to imitate them.
Week 4:
o I
said positive things about the children who have positive behavior. I like the
way (name) is sitting, I can see (name) is a good listener, (name) is a good
boy/girl because he/she cleaned up the classroom … . This made the other
children who had negative behavior noticed that and act as the same attitude as
the other children.
o I
am still using the behavior chart with the
children because the children were happy about it and all the time they were
counting how many stars have they got and how many stars have their friend got.
Week 5:
o I
praised Obaid who used to leave the school running
on the road and never hold his nanny's hand. However, this time he hold her
hand and walked with her to the car. I praised hem in front of all the children
which encouraged hem to act in the same way every day.
o I
gave Saeed a special time set aside for a computer
game because he listened to the instructions effectively
and did what he had to do. This reinforces is referred to as natural
reinforces because the activities are tasks that are enjoyable and come
naturally to a student, not an assignment.
